Up and Over Hike

The Ramparts

Distance:  13 kms     Hike duration:  6-7 hrs     Pace:  Moderate     Ascent:  ~500 m

From P12, we will hike along Morgan Road to the Ramparts and over to the Champlain Lookout and return to P12.

Although we will be only hiking about 13km, this hike is challenging in that we will be essentially climbing the escarpment twice. However, if enough hikers wish to forego dropping down the west side of the escarpment their hike could be shortened somewhat.  This decision will be made when we reach the Champlain lookout. 

Eye protection and whistle are mandatory. 

This is a long hike and, with days being shorter now, it's best to start earlier and finish before dark. Meet at the Supreme Court (map is in the link) at 8:15 for 8:30 departure or let the leader, Les Allen, know if you plan to meet, ready to hike from P12 at 9:00.
