P12 to Western Cabin Hike

It's springtime conditions in Gatineau Park, which mean blooming trilliums and usually bugs. Creeks are runing and muddy trails are expected.

This hike is a 10-12 kms, mostly uphill to Western cabin, where there will be a short rest and snack break. Mostly downhill, at a relaxed pace, on the return leg. Plan on less than 4 hours with break.

Dress in layers suitable for spring conditions, including extra socks in case of a soaker. Don't forget your water and snacks. Also bring bug spray and mosquito/black fly netting and also remember that ticks are out. As a courtesy to your driver, please bring a bag for your muddy boots.

Note that there will be road closures because of the CN Cycle for CHEO on Sunday. So instead of meeting at the Supreme Court, the meet up location has been changed to 40 Coburg Street, Patro d'Ottawa (see link to map below), at the same time 8:45 for 9:00 departure. Let your leader know if you plan to meet at trailhead at 9:20 ready to hike.
