Art of Hiking Clinic
The Pillars of ORC Safe Hiking
Ever wondered about what makes for an enjoyable and safe group outing – whether it be hiking, snowshoeing, skiing or other outdoor group activities? This is where the Art of Hiking clinic comes in.
Your hiking club is dedicated to creating a safe environment for its outdoor activities. Evaluations from previous Art of Hiking participants reveal that new as well as long-time members find it a good learning experience while at the same time taking part in an enjoyable outing. As a seasoned leader commented after participating in a previous Art of Hiking clinic – I learned a lot and will implement things I learned today when I lead future outings.
The Art of Hiking Clinic includes a moderate 10 km hike during which participants discuss a variety of scenarios contributing to a safe, enjoyable outing for all.
This is a good opportunity for new (or not so new) members to learn some basic skills to consider when hiking with groups. Prior to the clinic registered participants will receive a copy of a brief Handbook to review prior to the clinic.
